SHOEGAZE ON THE SLOPES

Philly area shoegaze musician, promoter, and record label producer, Tom Lugo, came out with a new video this week, "Blue Mountain - Paradise Trail- Snowboarding (Tom Lugo)- Pennsylvania". A little bit different than the projects his ventures normally produce where music is the centerpiece, this is a project where music is acting as a background to a video. Lots of action: smooth snowboarding down the slopes. The song itself is titled "Altered", and it's by Mayu.

I asked Tom about the video and if he'd like to tell us about how it came to be: HI Bob, Hope you are doing well my friend. That would be awesome. I started snowboarding almost 4 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. The Paradise Trail is at the Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton, PA. The song Altered by MAYU, which is a project I have with my friend from Puerto Rico Gardy Perez Ruiz. Gardy is the mastermind behind Un.Real, one of the best latin american shoegaze bands, they are from Puerto Rico. Gardy and I played in a band called Arnold Layne back in the early 90s in Puerto Rico.

While the video was just released on Tuesday, the song itself is quite new as well. Here are the stats that Tom sent:

I think the music and the video are well-matched. Tom says: I thought the music would fit nicely with the esthetics of the video, the changing of dynamics and speed like traveling in time.
